Welcome to the official hub for Dr. Geza Wordofa’s community initiatives in Stratford. Whether through advocating for affordable housing, championing multiculturalism, or supporting local families and newcomers, Geza’s life's work has been rooted in one core mission: making connections and helping others.
Dr. Geza Wordofa’s journey to Stratford is a story of dedication to human rights, community building, and public service.
Background & Education: Educated in clinical psychology, world history, human rights, international relations, and diplomacy (including studies at the University of Moscow), Geza has leveraged his expertise on both a global and local scale. He has worked internationally as a consultant and served as a Goodwill World Peace Ambassador.
Making Stratford Home: Upon moving to Stratford—his wife Nicole’s hometown—Geza quickly embedded himself in the fabric of the community. Recognizing the unique hurdles faced by newcomers, he founded the Multicultural Association of Perth-Huron, turning a grassroots effort into a vital local support network.
Recognized Leadership: Geza's deep community involvement has earned him prestigious honors, including the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award and the Ontario Government’s Newcomer Champion Award. He is also an active Rotarian, a member of the Stratford Area Chamber of Commerce, and has volunteered widely with organizations like the Salvation Army and United Way.
Geza’s commitment to Stratford isn't just about talk—it is defined by hands-on action across multiple areas of community life:
Geza is a persistent advocate for the vulnerable, continuously pushing municipal leadership to prioritize practical, dignified solutions for affordable housing and support for the unhoused population in Stratford.
Having experienced migration firsthand, Geza has spent over a decade personally assisting newcomers and refugees (including arriving families from Ukraine and other global hotspots). His support includes:
Securing housing and essential furniture.
Navigating government documentation (Service Ontario/Canada).
Providing transportation to medical appointments and local resources.
Delivering food and daily necessities
During times of local and global crisis, Geza steps up. From partnering with the Red Cross and the Government of Canada to deliver PPE, rapid tests, and necessities during the pandemic, to mobilizing volunteers for community relief, his priority is always the safety and well-being of local residents.
Have a question, an idea for the community, or want to support Geza’s ongoing initiatives? We’d love to hear from you.
"I have been honoured with a lot of awards, but these have all been by-products of what are my most proud achievements, which are making connections and helping others. To me, that is my greatest success." — Dr. Geza Wordofa
