Priorities for the next council: Compassion, Inclusion, and Action.
Stratford needs leadership that is deeply connected to the grassroots realities of its residents. For years, Geza Wordofa has been on the ground—working directly with families, newcomers, vulnerable populations, and local businesses. He is running to ensure that Stratford remains a welcoming, safe, and supportive community where no one is left behind.
Dignified Housing Solutions: Stratford is growing, but housing affordability remains one of the most pressing hurdles for working families, seniors, and fixed-income residents. Geza will advocate for municipal policies that prioritize practical, geared-to-income housing developments.
Supporting the Unhoused: True community strength is measured by how we treat our most vulnerable. Geza is committed to working with local social services, emergency shelters, and regional partners to ensure unhoused individuals have access to reliable resources, safety, and pathways to stability.
Strengthening Perth-Huron’s Diversity: Stratford’s cultural richness is one of its greatest assets. Drawing on his extensive background in human rights and community building (including founding the Multicultural Association of Perth-Huron), Geza will work to ensure that local programs actively celebrate and support cultural integration.
Resources for Newcomers & Families: Moving to a new city or country comes with severe structural hurdles. Geza champions robust networks to help arriving families navigate documentation, housing, healthcare, and employment, ensuring they can put down deep roots in Stratford.
Pillar 3: Expanding Local Childcare & Supporting Young Families
Replicable & Scalable Solutions: There are currently 2,538 local children on the childcare waitlist across the City of Stratford's service area, with licensed infant care reaching only 1 in 23 children in our community. Just as Stratford successfully licenses bed and breakfasts, short-term accommodations, and hotels, the City has the existing municipal authority to approve home daycare providers. By utilizing this proven model, we can open new childcare spaces in months rather than years.
Keeping Families in Stratford: Too many local parents face the exact hurdle my own family did—driving to London every single weekday simply because Stratford lacked the capacity to meet our needs. As your city councillor, my absolute priority is ensuring young families have the local resources, infrastructure, and support they need to live, work, and raise their children right here at home.
Pillar 4: Enhanced Services for Seniors and People with Disabilities
Dignity & Accessibility in Care: Across the City of Stratford, our aging population and neighbors with disabilities face critical gaps in navigating the essential services they rely on daily. Just as Stratford implements strict licensing and rigorous standards for local transit and housing infrastructure, the City has the existing municipal authority to establish a streamlined, centralized advocacy office. By utilizing this model, we can cut through bureaucratic red tape, match residents directly with provincial support, and ensure every vulnerable resident receives the high-quality care they deserve.
Accountability & Local Support: Too many Stratford seniors and families face a heartbreaking hurdle—struggling silently with disjointed services or being forced to seek specialized care outside our community because local capacity falls short. As your city councillor, my absolute priority is ensuring our vulnerable residents have the local resources, transparent communication, and accessible infrastructure they need to live independently, with dignity, right here at home.
Global Humanitarian. Local Heart. Educated in clinical psychology, human rights, and international relations, Dr. Geza Wordofa has dedicated his life to service. Recognized with honors such as the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award and the Ontario Government’s Newcomer Champion Award, Geza brings decades of humanitarian experience, active volunteerism (from the Salvation Army to local rotary initiatives), and a fierce dedication to the people of Stratford.
